ABOUT US

Dr. Sidney W. Bijou

Dr. Sidney W. Bijou (BEE’-JHOO) (November 12, 1908 – June 11, 2009) was an American child psychologist who applied B.F. Skinner's behavioral techniques to encourage positive behaviors through such rewards as treats, praise, and hugs (EAT, PLAY, SNUG); negative behaviors were largely ignored rather than punished. There is no doubt that Dr. Bijou was a person who, through his publications and teachings, directly and indirectly positively affected the lives of many throughout the world. Dr. Bijou was my mentor in his written words that live on, in his friendship that will remain in my heart, and in his encouragement of all things positive. For that, I will be eternally grateful.

In January 2022, we took over the former Kanine Kondos on Norris Rd, a 40-year haven for area animals. We modified the logo, the business model, the buildings, and the property to highlight our core values: Science and Love.

Peaceful and Fun:

What do Science and Love look like? We treat our animals like they're our kids! Both human children and fur babies look to structure, routine, and positive reinforcement to maintain a sense of security and comfort. When they feel safe, they feel their best! We love watching our clients' personalities come out as they quickly realize, "This place is great! I'm safe, I’m loved, and OOO! TREATS!"

We feel like our best indicator of a happy animal is when they are eager to come to play, pulling their human to the entrance: not the other way around.

Our services are available to dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, ferrets, hamsters, and more!
